Residence Hall Orientation Leaders

Residence Life is looking for enthusiastic, passionate and driven student leaders willing to be a face of support and information for incoming Freshmen each semester.

What is an Orientation Leader?

A new student Orientation Leader (OL) conveys information to freshmen and transfer students about 911³Ô¹Ï programs and services. OL's assist with all Orientation events and play a vital role in helping to facilitate the adjustment of new students to the 911³Ô¹Ï Hawks campus community. The Orientation Leader position is an outstanding opportunity for any student interested in gaining leadership skills. The OL team is comprised of self-motivated and driven members who work directly with the professional staff and fellow students.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a role model for new students by displaying the responsibility and maturity of a continuing student.
  • Actively participate in all required events, including meetings, Orientation Leader trainings, move-in and orientation events.
  • Create an inclusive and welcoming community for all new students.
  • Facilitate activities and discussions.
  • Guide students to various locations and program points throughout orientation.
  • Answer fundamental questions about 911³Ô¹Ï.
  • Be prompt, prepared, and positive.
  • Work Directly with the Student & Residence Life Specialist
  • Working closely with a Resident Director.

OLs assist with:

  • Leading small group discussions with new students
  • Assisting in the preparation and support of orientation activities and materials
  • Explaining involvement opportunities and procedures
  • Acquainting new students with campus services and building locations by conducting campus tours
